Provost, Arts and Social Sciences

Dr. Sam Afrane is an Associate Professor in Development Planning and currently the Acting Provost of the College of Art and Social Sciences. He was the former dean of the Faculty of Planning and Land Economy of the College of Architecture and Planning. Prof. Afrane has considerable teaching, research, and consultancy experiences in Strategic Planning, Institutional Management, Urban and Housing Development, Microfinance, Project Monitoring and Evaluation. 

 

He has been involved in a number of research and training projects in other countries including; South Africa, Bolivia, Gambia, Nigeria, Uganda and Malawi. Dr. Afrane serves as a consultant to many local and international agencies including, the World Bank, UNDP, International Labour Organisation, Australia Agency for International Development, World Vision International, USAID, IFAD, ECLOF-Geneva, DFID etc. He reviews articles and papers for a number of refereed journals including, Journal of Applied Science and Technology, SPRING Journal, Journal of Science and Technology etc.

 

Prof. Afrane had served on many institutional boards and Committees including National Development Planning Commission, Banks and Microfinance Companies, NGOs etc. He is currently the Board Chairman of the New Generation Investment Services Limited, Vice-Chairman of the Ghana Institute of Planners, National Council Chairman of Scripture Union Ghana and the immediate past Council Chairman of Christian Service University College, Kumasi. He is credited with many research publications and consultancy reports.
