There are four categories of applicants, namely:
- Senior Secondary School Certificate holders
- Ordinary and Advance Level GCE Holders
- Mature applicants (age:30 years and above) including HND holders (with 3 years working experience)
- International Students including Ghanaians with foreign results.
Application for admission forms with scratch cards are available and obtainable from all Regional Post Offices across the country.
Closing date for submission of the forms is Last working day of the second week of March in Each Year.
International Applicants DO NOT have to purchase application forms. Refer to International Applicants section.

Selection of qualified applicants is done by a Central Undergraduate Admission Committee.
On the 1st of October, 2010, Professor William Otoo Ellis was appointed as Vice Chancellor for a four year term to steer the affairs of this great institution by the Council of this University. He was inducted into office on the 2nd of October, 2010 and swore the oath of service and was formally outdoored to the University Community and to the rest of the general public.
